CONFERENCE INTERPRETERS

Continental Interpreting provides professional conference interpreters that interpret simultaneously for multilingual events of all sizes. Simultaneous interpreting—also called simultaneous translation—is a complex skill requiring the interpreter to listen and translate at the same time.

Simultaneous interpreting is a very demanding job that requires intense concentration. Depending on the complexity of the subject matter and the length of the meeting or event, two interpreters are necessary per language so they can alternate interpreting. This allows the interpreters to maintain quality and avoid fatigue. With Sign Language interpreting, if the meeting or event is over one hour, two interpreters are also required for the same reasons.

There is a need to rent interpreting equipment for simultaneous conference interpreting services. While the speaker is communicating with the audience, our interpreters sit in a tabletop booth or fully encapsulated booth that has an interpreting console set up so they can easily interpret the message into the target language. If a booth isn’t used, they will use a portable transmitter, and will either be in the back of the room or side of the room depending on where the speaker is positioned. Audience members hear the interpreters through lightweight, wireless listening devices.

Pairing expert simultaneous conference interpreters with sophisticated interpreting equipment ensures seamless, effective communication with your multilingual audience. Learn more about our Interpreting Equipment Rentals.

CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETERS

CIS also provides interpreters in consecutive mode depending on the setting and length of your meeting or event. These interpreters will listen, pause, and then interpret. This may be ideal for short business meetings or announcements at an event. If the setting is appropriate for consecutive interpreting, only one interpreter is needed. Our project managers can help you decide which type of interpreter, consecutive or simultaneous, is best for your needs.

COMMUNITY INTERPRETERS

Community interpreters are ideal for community meetings and events in which information needs to be communicated to a group regarding issues such as real estate development, public domain, health hazards, social programs or other issues that may impact a community. Our project managers can help you decide which type of interpreter is best for your needs.
