What is the difference between interpreting & translation?

Updated: Oct 28, 2020

There is  a common misconception between translation (translators) and interpreting (interpreters). While interpreting and translation are intrinsically related there is also a very distinct difference between the two.

The art of interpreting deals specifically with interpersonal communication while translation is solely dedicated to the act of translating tangible artifacts like a document or website.

Often times people make the incorrect statement that they need a translator when in reality they are seeking an interpreter to “translate” a conversation from one language to another. It’s tricky right?

No worries. When you talk to one of our representatives, they will point you in the right direction. Contact us today to request a quote.
